Garmin Varia - See and be seen

See and be seen with Garmin Varia. Many cyclists are injured in vehicle crashes every year, and of these incidents around 40% occur when a cyclist is hit from behind. With Varia, the world's first cycling radar system, you know when traffic is behind you from up to 140 meters.

"By using radar technology the Garmin Varia range makes cyclists more aware and therefore safer on the roads. We would like to draw attention to this safety aspect." said Jenna Chisnall, Marcomms Manager of Garmin Cape Town Cycle TourSub Saharan Africa.

Garmin will be showcasing the full range of Varia units at the upcoming Cape Town Cycle Tour, of which Garmin are the official technical training partner. Sales and technical support will be available during the expo period, 9 - 11 March 2017.

Garmin Varia Series

The Varia Radar warns the cyclist of vehicles approaching from behind, while a tail light brightens and flashes to alert drivers of a cyclist ahead. The Garmin Varia range wirelessly integrates with compatible Edge devices and can work independently or in conjunction with a Garmin Edge device. The Varia Smart Bike Light Varia Vision- insight displayautomatically projects further ahead as the cyclists speed increases or closer as a rider's speed decreases. The latest product announced in this range is the Varia Vision that attaches to the cyclists glasses and projects the data fields onto the lens, so the cyclist does not have to look down at his Edge device.

With the ever increasing attention in improving safety on the roads for our cyclists, Garmin believe that these products are a step in the right direction and strive to generate market awareness about these innovative products.

"Already a well know brand name in the cycling community with our Edge cycle computers and Vector power meter pedals, the Varia range brings the safety aspect to all cyclists who are out training on the roads" continues Jenna Chisnall, Marcomms Manager of Garmin Sub Saharan Africa.

For decades, Garmin has pioneered new GPS navigation and wireless devices and applications that are designed for people who live an active lifestyle. Garmin serves five primary business units, including automotive, aviation, fitness, marine, and outdoor recreation.
